One of the wonderful aspects of Chamonix is that it is a town and home to 12,000 residents all year round. Its Saturday market will tempt you, its ice hockey team entertain you and there is a mixture of traditional and more modern events throughout the year. The valley is home to some extremely talented artists and the pick of the crop can be found in  the Gallery Midnight in Chamonix’s Rue Whymper.

Its restaurant scene is impressive by world standards. You could dine differently and internationally every night for two weeks and still not have succumbed to a fondue or similar regional speciality (unless you want to of course). These include the Michelin starred Albert Premier and Le Bistrot and many others with reasonably priced set menus.
Chamonix in summer is an established venue for walking, mountain biking, climbing and paragliding. The beautiful towns of Montreux, Geneva, Vevey, Turin, Evian, Annecy and Chambery are all within 75 minutes drive.
