In winter Chamonix becomes a mecca for winter sports enthusiasts from around the
world. As well as its four ski areas, it has the infamous Vallee Blanche off piste
route and the less publicised and spectacular Argentiere Glacier run on the Grand
Montet. There are 12 resorts within an hour’s drive of Chamonix including Courmayeur,
Verbier and Megeve

Whilst Chamonix’s almost unlimited off piste areas are legendary, it has everything that a popular resort should have. Good ski schools including the English Evo2, a wide variety of piste grades, good mountain restaurants and an enviable snow record. The Grand Montet is skiable into May. It has an extensive ski bus network and a metro train serving the valley all the way to Martigny in Switzerland
